Was hanging out with my work crew for dinner tonight.

Most of them come from various Asian backgrounds so they know about all sorts of shit that I don’t, food-wise (twas my first non-sukiyaki hotpot). Discovery of the day is that the brand of aloe drink with honey that we were drinking tastes forreals like grape Hubba Bubba. My brain was not sure how to deal with it but it certainly did not stop drinking.

You know when you ask someone to take a photo of you, and then you check it later and you’re just like, who the hell is that stranger in my place? Me with this photo. I don’t know what the hell my face is doing here. I look like something just bit me on the arse, but I assure you that’s not actually the case.

Anyway, the educated among you will recognise this as the Pinup Girl Clothing Masuimi dress. I bought it because Teer Wayde made it look absolutely sensational and being a fair skinned red head with curves myself, I thought I’d take a punt. Upon arrival and trying it on, I was a bit iffy - and to be honest I had the dress up on ebay for sale when I decided I wanted to head out for cocktails last night and needed something bombshell. So I tried it on, posted it for you guys, and the vote seemed to be an overwhelming yes. Suffice to say, the dress is no longer for sale on ebay.

Teer Wayde did a pretty good job of reviewing and modelling the dress here, so I won’t go into too much detail. What I will say is this: it’s definitely an eye-catcher. I wouldn’t recommend this dress if you’re the sort of person who doesn’t like all eyes on you. Especially if you don’t want all eyes on your magnificent bosom. This dress … it showcases your girls. The gentlemen I spent the evening with were unabashedly ogling. The ladies I spent the evening with were unabashedly touching.

Mine is an XL and I think I could have gotten away with sizing down, as it’s definitely quite stretchy. There’s some debate about the cup sizing on the dress, and just to weigh in on that … it’s probably best if you’re a C cup and up (I’m a C cup and the dress needed to be adjusted frequently as there was just a hint of gape). Also: SHAPEWEAR. You’re not hiding anything in this dress. I’m wearing the What Katie Did Lulu corselette.

Most flattering comment of the evening: complete stranger comparing me to Ruby Gloom based entirely on my appearance. I had to look that up, but in justifying the comparison he was throwing out words like ‘pinup’ and ‘burlesque’ and ‘1950s’, all of which was totally gratifying coming from a stranger who knew nothing of my background or interests. Sir, when it comes to flattery, you totally nailed it!

**Edit to add: just FYI, I took the hem up about two-to-three inches as I found it far too long for my frame (I’m 5’6/167cm).

I think if I ever get my paws on the Plum Masuimi (sigh), I’ll style it with a belt like you have. Looks great!

Then ended up going out bowling for an hour with a couple of my friends.

My night at home then resumed with cider and Kimbra and washing up and perhaps irresponsibly climbing up onto the arm of a couch to install a new fire alarm battery and then maybe a shower.

Should I start an episode of Fringe? Or do I accept that tomorrow will be big (travel an hour to hair appointment, do that, travel another hour to workmate’s house for dinner, travel another two hours home) and just tucker out?

You guys, I have been feeling so scruffy.

Part of it is has been work has been crappy, and my body’s been a massive jerk, and winter’s been steadily setting in nice and early, so I just couldn’t be bothered.

But also it’s been more than three months since my last keratin treatment and about 9 weeks since my last haircut and my hair has been getting steadily more fluffy and gross.

But! I am going to get a new keratin treatment tomorrow (just in time to have manageable hair for my holiday) and I cannot wait to become an incessant hair-toucher again.

And I will have people to show it off to because I’m having dinner with my workmates. This is a good thing! I’ve made some less-than-stellar moves when I was feeling so good about my hair before. Best to have plans in advance.
